Last Chance! Apply by Friday for a Free Air Conditioner Through Buy and Save Appliances
By Y.M. Lowy
Time is running out for eligible New Yorkers to receive a free air conditioner and installation through Governor Kathy Hochul’s Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP). The deadline to apply is this Friday.
Buy and Save Appliances is an official vendor for the program and is helping qualified residents receive air conditioners at no cost ahead of the summer heat.
To qualify, a household must include a child under age 6, an adult over age 60, or someone with a medical condition that can be worsened by extreme heat. Income limits and other eligibility requirements apply based on household size.
“High temperatures and humidity in the summer pose a grave threat to those with certain medical conditions, as well as older adults and young children,” Governor Hochul said when announcing the program. “This assistance is crucial for at-risk New Yorkers.”
Residents who believe they may qualify are encouraged to apply before Friday's deadline.
