L Train Weekend Shutdown Disrupts Routines in Williamsburg
By Y.M. Lowy
The ongoing weekend shutdown of the L train is being felt strongly in Williamsburg, as planned maintenance work continues to disrupt travel.
The work affects service between Lorimer Street and Broadway Junction and is expected to continue through early February. On weekends, trains are not running through this stretch, forcing riders in Williamsburg to rely on shuttle buses, longer walks, or alternate train lines.
Full weekend service on the L train is scheduled to return on February 2. Until then, Williamsburg residents and business owners continue to adjust.
