Hochul Will Not Remove Adams From Office While Developing Legislation To Limit Mayor’s Power

By Idy Perl

After more staffers from Mayor Adam’s administration resigned earlier this week, rumors are swirling regarding Governor Hochul’s intentions with Mayor Adams, and whether she will pursue legal action or completely remove him from office.

According to several reports Hochul is expected to announce later today that she will not force Adams out at this time. Instead, the governor’s team is supposedly drafting legislation that would limit the mayor’s power and increase oversight of the mayor’s office.

The legislation would need city council and state legislative approval, and Hochul is expected to bring it up when lawmakers return to Albany next week.

Mayor Adams can once again breathe a sigh of relief. For now at least.
