Gun Found in Williamsburg Middle School

Shock and concern rippled through a Williamsburg school yesterday morning when a 12-year-old student was found with a gun inside the building. The firearm, though unloaded, was real and in the hands of a child.

Police were called around 10:30 a.m. and quickly recovered the weapon. City officials called it a disturbing breach of safety. The Department of Education said there is absolutely no place for weapons in schools, and praised the students who spoke up.

The school is now under increased security.
