G Train Closure Rescheduled to July as Repair Work Continues

By Y.M. Lowy

The MTA has postponed a planned G train shutdown that was originally scheduled for the weekend of June 12. The closure will now take place during the weekend of July 10, a change made to avoid back-to-back disruptions for riders.

The upcoming closure is part of the work to repair tracks and modernize signals along the line. Crews are also dealing with more extensive infrastructure issues than originally expected in the tunnel beneath Newtown Creek between Greenpoint and Long Island City.

The MTA advises riders to check for service updates before traveling as construction on the line will continue through the summer.
