G Line Modernization Project Enters Phase 3
By Williamsburg 365 Staff
The MTA has been upgrading the G Line Subway, which accommodates 160,000 riders daily, with a new signal system to enhance speed and reliability.
This led to temporary shutdowns last month. As construction progresses into phase three, service will be restored between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs.
Starting at 4:00 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 12, through 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3, the G Line will be closed between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Church Av.
“We appreciate customers’ understanding as we work to modernize a signal system,” said MTA Construction & Development President Jamie Torres-Springer. “And we’re delivering this project better, faster, and cheaper with phased outages…”
Extensive shuttle bus service will run in place of train service, with buses stopping at all stations where train service is suspended.
On weekdays, the shuttle will run every 1 to 4 minutes during the day and every 5 to 10 minutes during the evening and night. On Sundays, the service will run every 3 to 5 minutes during the day and 6 to 10 minutes at night.
