By Y.M. Lowy
A 21-year-old tourist from France was arrested late Thursday night after climbing the Williamsburg Bridge.
Around 2 a.m., someone spotted the man, Louis de Lestrange, climbing up the Manhattan side of the bridge and called police. NYPD Aviation, Harbor, and Emergency Services teams rushed to the scene, but by the time they started climbing, Lestrange was already on his way down.
Officers stopped him on the bridge’s bike path and arrested him. He was charged with reckless endangerment, criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, and violating local law.
