By Idy Perl

This morning a fire broke out at a Small Natural Gas Power Plant in Williamsburg on River Street, between Grand Street and North 1st Street, which is operated by the NY Power Authority.

The fire reportedly ignited while plant staff were conducting routine maintenance. The FDNY quickly responded to the scene and worked for close to an hour to extinguish the flames. The fire was contained to the site and didn’t cause any power interruptions.

Two firefighters sustained minor injuries.
