Easy Aerial Drone Company Leaving Brooklyn Navy Yard After Lease Decision

New York City Council Member Lincoln Restler announced that the lease of Easy Aerial, a drone manufacturing company based at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, will not be renewed.

Easy Aerial develops and produces autonomous drone systems used for security, emergency response, and defense applications. The company sells its systems to U.S. government agencies, including the military, as well as allied partners, including Israel.

The lease decision follows months of demonstrations and protests by activist groups who argued that publicly owned property should not house companies involved in manufacturing weapons for war. Restler said the city-run Navy Yard should not rent space to firms producing drones that can be adapted for warfare.

The Brooklyn Navy Yard has long promoted itself as a hub for advanced manufacturing and innovation, housing a range of industrial and technology-based tenants. Easy Aerial has not publicly announced where it plans to relocate following the lease decision.
