Congestion Pricing Brings in $215 Million

Congestion Pricing Brings in $215 Million

By Y.M. Lowy

The MTA has collected $215.7 million so far this year from New York City’s new congestion pricing tolls, including $56.7 million in April alone.

Drivers entering Manhattan have been paying a base toll of $9 since January 5. The program is expected to raise $500 million in 2025. The money is planned for subway upgrades, new electric buses, repairs, and the Second Avenue Subway extension.

This news came just one day after a federal judge blocked the U.S. Department of Transportation from cutting off transit funding to New York. That order is in place until at least June 9, while the legal fight continues.
