A section of McCarren Park in Williamsburg is set to be fixed up, and the city is asking the community to help decide what should be done with the space.

The area, located near the tennis courts, is currently in poor condition, with cracked pavement and little use. Officials say the $15 million project will repair the field and also fix water buildup issues by adding a new drainage system.

As part of the plan, residents will be able to share their ideas for the space. Some people want a proper dog run, while others are asking for new activities like courts for games.

City officials say a dog run will be included, and the project is expected to move ahead in the coming years.

A public meeting on May 7 will give neighbors a chance to give feedback before the final plan is approved, with the new field expected to open in 2029.
