Community Grateful to Councilmember Lincoln Restler for Advocacy During Recent Heat Wave

The Williamsburg community is expressing heartfelt gratitude to Councilmember Lincoln Restler for his unwavering dedication during the recent heat wave, when widespread power outages left many residents and businesses without electricity.

As Con Edison struggled to handle the increased demand on the electrical grid, large parts of Williamsburg experienced outages, affecting homes, businesses, schools, and shuls. Rather than remain behind the scenes, Councilmember Restler came down personally to Williamsburg, standing in the sweltering heat and applying pressure on Con Edison to restore power as quickly as possible.

“We have been pleading for more resources from @ConEdison since Tuesday — to no avail. No one has been working on-site for hours,” he tweeted. “Large families & older adults are struggling. We need help from ConEd now.”

Residents noted that Lincoln didn’t rest or step aside until every issue was addressed. He remained on the ground, ensuring that Con Edison crews were actively working on behalf of the community and that no one was left behind.

Thanks to his hands-on approach and persistent advocacy, many saw quicker resolutions to their electrical issues, with cooling systems restored in a timely manner. The community is deeply appreciative of his commitment and support during such a challenging time.

Our community is proud to have such a dedicated advocate who consistently stands up for our most important concerns - not only during crises, but all the time.
