Chaveirim of Williamsburg Conducts Training on Elevator Rescue

By Idy Perl

Last night, members of Chaveirim of Williamsburg attended a training to learn how to rescue people in stuck elevators.

As part of the training, Chaveirim members were taught how to communicate with those stuck inside the elevator, along with the FDNY who are called to all such scenes, and even how to keep them calm during the time it takes to get them out. Keeping people calm during evacuation missions is of utmost importance, and Chaveirim members are well-trained in how to provide support and reassurance throughout the entire process.

Chaveirim members receive ongoing training every few months on various safety and rescue topics, including carbon monoxide detection, lock-picking, animal handling, and, most recently, elevator safety. This continuous training enables them to respond quickly and professionally to any situation, maintaining their reputation for high professionalism and rapid response times.

Williamsburg365 spoke with the four coordinators of Chaveirim, Yossi Steinfeld, Yoeli Brach, Shia Weisblum, and Chili Follman, about the training session held last night.

"It is crucial for our members to stay updated with the latest training to be prepared for all kinds of scenarios," one of them shared. "We often receive calls about people stuck in elevators, and these trainings will not only help our members understand the situation better but also assist Williamsburg residents in need."

"Chaveirim conducts such training sessions frequently on various topics to ensure our members are properly trained and equipped for all kinds of help calls," the coordinators concluded.
