YS GOLD

We regret to inform  you of the passing of Reb Sinai Mattias, a longtime Williamsburg resident, a beloved and admired figure in the community. He was 78 years of age.

The niftar was born in the aftermath of the war in Romania. His father was Reb Nosson Mattias, an important figure who administered the Kollel Shomrei Hachomos tzeddakah before the war. His son, Sinai, would inherit his integrity, his honesty, and his willingness to help others.

Reb Sinai was known for his kindness and his emunah peshutah. In his many years as the chef at Rose Castle, he was meticulous about kashrus, and ensured that everything was above and beyond the necessary standards.

He was known for his unbending and uncompromising attitude to every aspect of Yiddishkeit, and he lived with incredible emunah peshutah.

He davened in the Nitra Shul on Rodney Street for many years, and this is where the levaya will take place this afternoon at 12:30.

Yehi zichro baruch.
