BDE: Reb Shmiel Duvid Ganz, z"l

YS GOLD

We regret to inform you of the passing of Reb Shmiel Duvid Ganz, a longtime Williamsburg resident and an ardent Satmar chassid. He was in his eighties.

The niftar survived the war as a child along with several of his siblings, and learned in the Nitra Yeshiva after the war. He would always tell the younger generation about those times after the churban and how things were in those days.

Arriving in America, he became close to the Divrei Yoel of Satmar, and became an energetic askan for many causes. In the 1970's, he accompanied the generations' Admorim for a historic meeting with the president of the United States at the White House.

He was constantly on the hunt for ways to make life easier for his fellow Yidden.

Reb Shmiel Duvid is remembered for filming rare video of the Satmar Rov, which he did by placing a camera inside his hat! He would later show these videos in his home to people thirsty for a glimpse of the Rebbe, zt"l.

Reb Shmiel Duvid was unwell in recent years, and passed away in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The levaya took place at Bies Medrash Tehillos Yoel on Rutledge Street.

Yehi zichro baruch.
