We regret to inform you of the passing of R' Wolf Katz, an ardent talmid and chossid of the Satmar Rebbe, the Divrei Yoel, who merited to be close to the Rebbe and the Rebbetzin over many years. He was 85 years of age.
The niftar learned in the Viznitzer Yeshiva in Bnei Brak in his youth, and his pictured alongside the Imrei Chaim of Viznitz in an early photograph. He also learned by Rav Michoel Ber Weissmandl in Nitra.
He married the daughter of Reb Moshe Uri Follman of the Lower East Side, and worked as a melamed of children on the West Side of Manhattan during the 1960's and 70's. A number of prominent rabbonim and askonim learned by R' Volf during these years.
On account of his wife assisting the Satmar Rebbetzin, a"h, Reb Wolf had many occasions to be in the home of the Satmar Rebbe, the Divrei Yoel. He once related that he spent 22 sedorim on Pesach night in the home of the Rebbe.
The niftar is remembered for his sweetness and his smile and his ehrlichkeit.
The levaya took place at Maplewood Estates in Woodridge late on Motzei Shabbos, and kevurah took place in the Sulitzer Chelkah in New Jersey.
