Williamsburg365 Cardiology Awareness Article Helps Save A 65-year-old Man’s Life
By Yisroel R.
A powerful story out of Williamsburg is showing just how real the impact of awareness can be. The 65-year-old man’s life was saved after reading Williamsburg365’s cardiology article and finally deciding to call Hatzalah about chest pain he had been ignoring for weeks.
A member close to the story told Williamsburg365 that the man had been experiencing the same ongoing chest discomfort for a while, but after seeing the Williamsburg365 article, he realized he should not take chances anymore and decided to call. When Hatzalah arrived and examined him, they immediately saw that he was in the middle of an active heart attack. He was taken straight to the hospital, where doctors placed two stents to open two blocked arteries and stop the damage from getting worse.
The member said the man had kept brushing off the pain, thinking it was just heartburn or something small. After being asked why he chose to call Hatzalah now, he said it was because he had seen the Williamsburg365 article about the rise in heart attacks and the warning not to ignore symptoms. That article pushed him to make the call, and doctors later told him that waiting any longer could have cost him his life.
A few days later, after he returned home, the man made a tikkun in Beis Medrash to thank Hashem for his recovery. He also expressed deep thanks to Hatzalah for their fast response and to Williamsburg365 for publishing the awareness article that encouraged him to seek help in time.
Community askanim and medical professionals say this story is a strong reminder that chest pain and ongoing discomfort should never be ignored. Getting checked early can save a life, as proven right here in our neighborhood.
Williamsburg365 will continue sharing important health information to help keep the community safe and informed.
