Williamsburg Intersections Cleared for Seniors Community in Joint Effort
YS GOLD
Councilmember Lincoln Restler joined forces with Chaveirim of Williamsburg this week for a targeted effort, clearing dozens of local intersections to ensure the neighborhood remains navigable for its most vulnerable residents.
The initiative focused on high-traffic corners and crosswalks where the snow was piled high, blocking pedestrians using wheelchairs, walkers, or canes.
Restler worked alongside Chaveirim’s volunteer fleet, using the organization’s rapid-response expertise and ATV’s to identify intersections and crosswalks in need of clearing, and worked late into the night.
Working together as a team, Restler and Chaveirim restored safe passage to several key corridors, allowing residents to reach their intended destinations despite the 20 inches dumped by the nor’easter.
