Williamsburg Askanim Meet with Sanitation Ahead of Pesach Preparations
By Y.M. Lowy
With Pesach approaching, Williamsburg askanim sat down with city officials to get ahead of one of the biggest yearly challenges — garbage.
Local Askanim, including Rabbi Moishe Indig of the WJCC, Moshe Weiser, Yanky Itzkowitz of Williamsburg Shomrim, and Sam Stern of the UJO, met with sanitation leadership along with Community Affairs officers from the 90th and 79th precincts to coordinate pre-Pesach plans.
The discussion focused on keeping the neighborhood clean and organized during the busy days leading up to Yom Tov. One of the main points was the placement of large garbage containers in strategic locations on the streets around the neighborhood, making it easier for residents to dispose of bulk trash.
They also went over the schedule for garbage collection around Erev Pesach, including arrangements connected to sreifas chometz, ensuring things run smoothly and safely on that hectic day.
At the meeting, Rabbi Indig expressed appreciation to sanitation officials for their work during the recent winter storms, noting the effort that went into keeping the streets clear under difficult conditions.
