Wharf Construction Temporarily Limits Waterfront Access in Williamsburg

By Y.M. Lowy

Residents heading to the waterfront near 470 Kent Avenue should be aware of ongoing construction activities that will temporarily affect pedestrian access to parts of the wharf.

Scaffolding installation is currently underway and is scheduled to continue through Saturday, October 17. During this period, the central waterfront access corridor aligned with South 11th Street remains closed to pedestrians.

Visitors can continue accessing the waterfront through the Division Avenue corridor or the Schaefer Landing corridor from Kent Avenue.

Crane loading operations are also continuing, including overnight work scheduled for tonight, Friday, October 16, under an approved 24-hour work permit. Additional crane operations are scheduled for Monday, October 19, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, fencing will be installed along part of Schaefer Landing's upland connection to the river on Monday and Tuesday, October 19 and 20, during regular construction hours.

Residents and visitors are advised to use the available alternative access routes while construction continues.
