West Nile Virus Found In Mosquitos in East Williamsburg
By Idy Perl
That buzzing you’re hearing all day might not be just another innocent mosquito.
In the last 2 weeks, officials have found the West Nile virus in mosquitos in several NYC neighborhoods, including East Williamsburg.
Most cases of West Nile don’t develop symptoms, but those that do report headaches, body aches, vomiting, and skin rashes. The West Nile virus very rarely turns into a serious illness, but when it does it can affect the brain and spinal cord. A doctor can conduct a blood test to test for the virus, but there is no known cure for it yet and most people recover on their own.
