UPDATE: Man Found in Newtown Creek Was Wearing Hospital Bracelet

Following Thursday's report of a body recovered from Newtown Creek, new details have emerged about the discovery.

Police say the man, believed to be in his 30s, was found near North Henry Street and Kingsland Avenue in Greenpoint around 12:15 p.m. Thursday. EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.

According to police sources, the man was still wearing a hospital bracelet dated sometime in August, though the name of the hospital was not immediately clear. The NYC Medical Examiner is working to determine the exact cause of death.

This update comes just one week after another decomposed body was discovered floating in the same waterway near Malt Drive in Long Island City. And in July, popular NYC DJ Reda Briki, 52, was found dead on a houseboat docked in the Newtown Creek Marina, raising concern over multiple recent incidents in the area.

The investigation into Thursday’s discovery remains ongoing.
