Upcoming Closures on the Williamsburg Bridge

Upcoming Closures on the Williamsburg Bridge

By Y.M. Lowy

Construction on the Williamsburg Bridge continues to impact traffic as part of NYCDOT’s ongoing rehabilitation project. New lane closures are scheduled from September 2 through September 8.

The Brooklyn-bound outer roadway will have one lane closed from 6 AM on Tuesday (9/2) to 5 AM on Monday (9/8).

The Brooklyn-bound inner roadway will also be closed to one lane from Tuesday (9/2) to Friday (9/5) between 10 AM and 3 PM.

On the Manhattan-bound side, either the inner or outer roadway will have one lane closed during the same weekday hours: Tuesday to Friday between 10 AM and 3 PM.

At least one lane in each direction will remain open at all times to ensure traffic continues to flow smoothly. The bridge’s walkway and bikeway will continue to be narrowed at certain work zones for up to fifty feet, and both pedestrians and cyclists are urged to use caution when crossing.
