Traffic Chaos on Bedford Avenue: Community Calls on DOT to Stop Pre-Shabbos Construction
Bedford Avenue and Wallabout were a traffic nightmare this week on Friday thanks to ongoing construction.
Drivers reported to Williamsburg365 that they spent 25 to 30 minutes just to get through the area. People are tired of this happening not once, but multiple weeks. Many in the community are frustrated that the construction is happening right before Shabbos, the busiest time of the week.
People are asking the Department of Transportation (DOT) to schedule future construction during the week instead of right before Shabbos. Residents say moving the work could make traffic flow much smoother and might even make the construction workers have an easier time with their repairs.
