Signing Up For Notify NYC Alerts Is Now Easier Than Ever

It’s now easier than ever to get notified about essential emergency information in New York City. 

Mayor Eric Adams and NYC Emergency Management Commissioner Zach Iscol announced today a new, easier way for New Yorkers to enroll in Notify NYC, the NYC emergency information service that provides real-time notifications during local emergencies. Residents can get updates via text, email, social media, RSS feed, and on the NOTIFY NYC app. 

Now, residents no longer have to register online or download an app in order to receive notifications. Simply text “NOTIFYNYC” to 692-692, and you will be signed up for text alerts. In addition, by providing a zip code, residents can receive neighborhood-specific alerts.   

"We are committed to making New York City safer every day, but we cannot do that without providing New Yorkers with the most effective and accessible information when an emergency occurs," Mayor Adams said. "By upgrading Notify NYC to more easily push out citywide alerts and now sending zip code-specific alerts, we’re ensuring residents receive both broad and localized updates, all through one simple text subscription, making it easier than ever to stay informed."
