Shomrim Recovers $6,000 Keyboard After Uber Driver Fails to Deliver

Last week, a frantic keyboard player turned to Shomrim for assistance after his keyboard disappeared while being transported by an Uber driver. The musician had arranged for his keyboard to be sent for repairs, but despite being handed over to the driver, it never reached its destination. After multiple unsuccessful attempts to contact the driver and locate the missing instrument, he turned to Shomrim for help.

Shomrim’s specialized IT and Technology Division immediately jumped into action. Volunteers began gathering critical data to help track down the driver and the missing keyboard. They reviewed security camera footage to locate the vehicle and successfully obtained its license plate number, allowing the team to move the investigation forward.

After obtaining the vehicle’s license plate number, Shomrim continued to keep an eye out for the car. A few days later, the vehicle came back into the neighborhood, and Shomrim received an alert from their LPR (License Plate Reader) system. Volunteers quickly responded, located the vehicle, and made contact with the driver.

The driver then returned to his home in Queens, where he handed over the keyboard—valued at approximately $6,000—which was subsequently returned to its rightful owner.

This successful recovery highlights the dedication and teamwork of Shomrim volunteers, particularly the IT division, whose swift actions and persistence—together with the use of the LPR system—prevented a significant loss for a community member.
