Second Alarm Fire Breaks Out on Roof of Myrtle Avenue Building

FDNY and Hatzolah responded to a fast moving fire at a six story building located at 1086 Myrtle Avenue on the corner of Lewis Avenue after flames were reported on the roof.
The fire quickly escalated and was raised to a second alarm as heavy smoke and flames were seen coming from the top of the building. A total of 46 units and 141 FDNY and EMS personnel responded to the scene as firefighters worked to contain the blaze.
One firefighter suffered minor injuries while operating at the fire and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
After an intensive operation, the fire was brought under control at approximately 2:10.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
