Reader’s Write: Since When is Pain Entertainment?

Dear Williamsburg365 readers,
Once again, I stood on the streets of Williamsburg and watched a scene that should never have happened among us. A terrible accident happened, a Yid in pain, and crowds gathering around like it was something to watch.
It’s not the first time. And every time it happens, it cuts deeper. Where is our heart? Where is our rachmonus? Since when did a Yid’s hardest moments become something to watch like a show?
When you see a Hatzolah truck, stop whatever you are doing - not to watch, but to whisper a kapital tehillim. And then turn away. Give a Yid the dignity they deserve.
And teach your children that another Yid’s suffering is not something to watch. That we cry for each other, we don’t gawk at each other. This is the way we were raised and the way we have to raise the next dor.
This is not how Williamsburg should look — we are better than this.
From a neighbor,
Mrs. S. L. Stein
