A high-level meeting was held today at the NYPD 79th Precinct following last week’s incident on Marcy Avenue in Williamsburg. The suspect was arrested by police just a few hours later, thanks to swift coordination and response.
The precinct’s Commanding Officer brought together the full leadership team of the 79th Precinct to meet with the Williamsburg Shomrim coordinator, along with community leaders Rabbi Joel Friedman NYPD Clergy Liaison, Sam Stern from the United Jewish Organizations (UJO), and Abe Liechtenstein, who has served as the NYPD 79th Precinct community liaison for over 50 years.
During the meeting, the Commanding Officer thanked Shomrim for their ongoing partnership and commended the team for providing critical video footage that helped resolve the case quickly. He also directed an increase in patrols throughout the neighborhood to boost safety and visibility.
The discussion focused on strengthening collaboration between Shomrim and the NYPD, reviewing the recent incident, and addressing broader crime prevention strategies in the Williamsburg community.
