NYC DOT Bringing Art to the Streets

NYC DOT Bringing Art to the Streets

By Y.M. Lowy

NYC DOT launched an Art Partners Initiative that invites local organizations to create art on city streets.

From murals to sculptures, the project lets nonprofit organizations transform DOT structures like sidewalks, medians, and plazas into temporary art displays. These installations can last up to 11 months. While DOT provides the space, partner organizations are responsible for funding their approved projects.

“The goal is to make our streets more welcoming and dynamic,” Rodriguez said. “Public art helps inspire New Yorkers and build community, and this initiative is a creative way to bring people together.”
