New Mini Forest Brings Greenery to the Williamsburg Waterfront

A quiet corner of the Williamsburg waterfront has been transformed into a lush “mini forest,” thanks to a new project from the city’s parks department. Located at the North Fifth Street Pier and Park, the small plot is now packed with native trees, plants, and grasses designed to mimic a natural forest environment.

Funded mostly by the parks department, the project cost about $200,000. Councilmember Lincoln Restler’s office contributed an additional $35,000 to support installation and maintenance.
