New Housing Plan Targets Williamsburg Waterfront
By Y.M. Lowy
Mayor Eric Adams wants to bring 1,700 new homes to city-owned land in Williamsburg and East Harlem.
On the Williamsburg side, the focus is 390 Kent Avenue, just south of the Williamsburg Bridge. The city will invite developers to propose a project with at least 900 apartments, and at least a quarter of those must be permanently affordable.
Right now, the site holds a 72-year-old building used by city agencies.
