More Than 200 Williamsburg Families Without Power as Shabbos Approaches

By YS GOLD

More than 200 Williamsburg families are reported to be without power as Shabbos approaches.

The outage is affecting homes on Park Avenue, Throop Avenue, and Ellery Street, where residents say they have been without heat and electricity since this afternoon.

According to information shared with Williamsburg365, the outage was caused by a manhole break believed to be linked to the heavy snow and subsequent salting.

As of now, there is no estimated time for restoration, and Con Edison has not provided a clear plan yet for when power will be back.

With freezing cold temperatures and Shabbos nearing, several affected families told Williamsburg365 they are planning to leave their homes for Shabbos due to the conditions.
