Mayor Eric Adams Endorses Cuomo Over Mamdani
By Y.M. Lowy
Mayor Eric Adams has endorsed former Governor Andrew Cuomo in an effort to slow the momentum of Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee.
"I'm fighting for the family of New York, that's why I'm here today to endorse Andrew Cuomo," Adams said.
Adams said New York City cannot become like parts of Europe, where Islamic extremism has taken hold. He was careful to note that his concern is with extremists, not the Muslim community as a whole.
Cuomo emphasized the shared concern with the mayor. Both being Democrats, he said, they see Mamdani as an existential threat to the city’s safety and values. Cuomo called Adams’ endorsement an important moment in his campaign and a signal of unity in confronting extremism.
