Man Indicted Today For Tossing Homemade Bombs from Williamsburg Bridge
By Idy Perl
Michael Gann, a 55-year-old man, was
indicted today for throwing homemade explosives off the Williamsburg Bridge earlier this year. He had built at least seven of them using instructions he
found online and was keeping some of them on rooftops in SoHo. Three of the
devices were thrown from the Manhattan side of the bridge, two landed in the
East River, and one landed on subway tracks.
When investigators searched his rooftop
spots, they found more materials, including 30 grams of explosive powder. That
amount is far above what’s legally allowed for personal use. They also found
one device in his pocket and another in his bag.
Gann has a long history of arrests having
been arrested 30 times before.
