For weeks now, the Jewish community in America and abroad has been discussing an imminent high-profile meeting between two Gedolim of our time. This meeting has now been postponed, we have learned this afternoon.
The Satmar Rebbe and Haga'on Rav Shaul Alter were set to meet with the president in Washington this week at the president's invitation, and Rav Alter was set to depart Yerushalayim early in the week. However, the meeting was postponed on a last-minute basis.
Presidential advisor Yehuda Kaploun spoke with the staff regarding the matter, and said that the president wanted to give proper honor and respect to these Torah leaders, but these first one hundred days are shaping out to be busier than expected--with hostage negotiations ongoing, as well as negotiations to end the Russia-Ukraine war.
The meeting has not yet been rescheduled, but it is expected to take place this year.
