In a strong push to ease the financial strain caused by rising prices, New York Governor Kathy Hochul has introduced a proposal for inflation refund checks, promising to return checks from $300 to $500 depending on income.
Governor Hochul met Rabbi Moshe Indig of the Williamsburg Jewish Community Council and other askanim at the WJCC office.
She also interacted with local residents and visited many grocery stores today, including Hatzlacha grocery in Williamsburg, to spotlight the impact of inflation on everyday products. There, she emphasized how the rising costs of food and essentials have hit New Yorkers hardest, particularly low- and middle-income families. “Eggs. Bread. Diapers. They're just some of the essential items New York families pick up when they go grocery shopping – and these costs add up,” she said. “Our proposed Inflation Refund checks of up to $500 will put money back in the pockets of millions of New Yorkers.”
As Hochul continues to push for the refund proposal, the focus remains on helping New Yorkers make ends meet during a time of rising prices. New Yorkers need relief, and her office is committed to making that a reality.
