A fire broke out Tuesday evening at the Chernovitz Shul, located at 68 Franklin Avenue, causing significant fire and water damage to the building.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:00 PM, prompting a rapid response from FDNY, Shomrim, and Chaverim. Upon arrival, crews worked quickly to bring the flames under control while others focused on protecting what they could from inside the Shul.
As the fire was being extinguished, large volumes of water used to douse the flames flooded the interior of the Shul.
Responders and volunteers were seen rescuing the Sifrei Torah and Seforim, carefully removing them from the affected areas to prevent further loss.
No injuries have been reported.
