Body Discovered in Newtown Creek Near Greenpoint

A tragic discovery was made today when a body was spotted floating in Newtown Creek, the waterway that borders Williamsburg and separates Brooklyn from Queens.

Emergency crews and NYPD Harbor Units rushed to the scene and worked to recover the body from the water. The area was secured as detectives began their investigation into the cause of death and the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Newtown Creek, which runs along the industrial edge of Williamsburg, has unfortunately been the site of several similar discoveries over the years.
