BDE: Reb Noach Klein A”h, Tragically Killed in Accident in Boro Park

We regret to inform you of the tragic Petirah of Reb Noach Klein A”h, who was killed after being hit by a vehicle in an accident on 18th Avenue between 48th Street and 49th Street Wednesday evening.

The niftar was born to his parents, Reb Shloime Zalman and Gittel Klein, Deezh’er chassidim who resided in Romania. The family was fortunate to survive the war in their Romanian hometown. The family made their way to Eretz Yisroel following the war, and Reb Noach learned in the Satmar yeshiva. There, he became an ardent Satmar Chossid, and eventually came to America to be near the Rebbe.

He was soon appointed a hoiz bachur in the Rebbe’s home, and loyally and faithfully served his beloved Rebbe. For the rest of his life, he would be a fount of information and anecdotes about the life around the Satmar Rebbe, and many pages have been filled with his recollections.

For nearly 50 years, Reb Noach ran Unique Sterling, first opening his shop in 1975 on 13th Avenue before moving to his current location at 4819 18th Avenue. A native of Dezh, Hungary, Reb Noach was admired not only for his knowledge and expertise but also for his warm humor, quick wit, and old-world charm.

We once had the privilege of interviewing Reb Noach for our Snapshot feature, where he shared stories of tracking down rare antique silver pieces and the philosophy behind his craft. Customers recall him as a man who could spend weeks finding the perfect silver items, ensuring his wares brought both beauty and heritage into homes across Boro Park. Despite his love for silver, he often shared a message with younger generations: “Have the sechel not to buy too much silver.”

The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 PM, as the Niftar was making his way to Daven Mincha. Hatzaloh responded to the scene and transported the victim to Maimonides Medical Center in critical condition, where he tragically passed away a short while later.

The NYPD arrested the driver at the scene after determining he was operating the vehicle with a suspended license.

The Levaye details will be shared when they are available.
