BDE: Mrs. Gittel Feder, a”h, 101

YS Gold
We regret to inform you of the petirah of Mrs. Gittel Feder, a Holocaust survivor, a matriarch of a beautiful Torah family who merited to see her great-great grandchildren after the harrowing churban. She was 101 years of age, and was lucid and sharp until her last moments.
The nifteres was born in the town of Beregsacz, Hungary in the year 1922. Her father was Reb Hershel Wiesner, and Gittel was the eldest of all her siblings.
She endured the worst horrors imaginable in Auschwitz, and later on the Death March. She was already on a mound of corpses when a cousin dragged her out and revived her.
She married Reb Duvid Feder, and their first child, Reb Baruch Tzvi Feder, was born to them in the resort town of Marienbad.
The family left for Eretz Yisroel where they would remain until 1968. While there, they became very close to the Belzer Ruv, zy”a, and to other tzaddikim who lived in Eretz Yisroel at the time.
Arriving in America in 1968, they settled in Williamsburg.
Sadly, her husband, Reb Duvid, passed away after a few years in America, leaving her all alone. She would remain alone for 47 years, working mightily to support herself and her family, but she never lost her emunah and bitachon.
She would share her life experience with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and, as noted, she remained lucid until her last day.
Mrs. Feder passed away this Shabbos morning, ascending On High to be reunited with her countless family members from whom she parted under the most brutal circumstances during Churban Europa, close to eighty years ago.
The levaya took place in Williamsburg on motzei shabbos, and later in New Square, where she was laid to rest.
Yehi zichra baruch.
